Assessment of the Microbiological Safety of Spices

Microbial contamination in spices can lead to serious food safety concerns and damage to human health. Growing concerned and interest in the safety of spices has prompted the FAO and WHO around the world to evaluate the microorganisms in these spices. Lifeasible delves into spice research and aims to provide comprehensive and effective solutions to challenges in spice research and production applications.

Assessment of the Microbiological Safety of Spices

What we offer

We provide microbiological assessments for various spices

Spices Mixed Spices, Cinnamon, Curry powder, Turmeric powder, Bay leaf, Black pepper powder, Coriander powder, Pomegranate seeds, Red Chili powder, Cloves, Cumin powder, etc.

We offer various technologies for microbial detection in spices

Immunological detection techniques

The immunological detection method based on the immunological detection of microorganisms in spices is based on the following two immunological techniques.

  • ATP luminescence detection technique. This type of detection is based on the biological properties of ATP to detect various microorganisms in food. The principle is to use fluorescein, fluorescein, and oxygen as substrates and react with spices' microorganisms in a corresponding chemical reaction. This results in effectively converting chemical energy into light energy.
  • Latex agglutination reaction. The experimental phenomenon of this reaction is more visual and can be directly observed with the naked eye. This technique uses the specificity of the antigen-antibody, adding synthetic macromolecule latex particles to the reaction system, which can effectively visualize the agglutination reaction of the particles, and according to the corresponding detection results, do a good job of prevention and decrease the probability of the presence of various harmful microorganisms in spices.

Molecular biology detection technology

  • Among the molecular biology assays we offer, we mainly apply polymerase chain reaction technology (PCR technology), and gene chip technology to detect microorganisms in spices. In addition, we offer gene chip technology, in which a gene probe is fused to a chip, and then the chip is scanned by a detection system to determine the presence of certain specific states of microorganisms.

Sensor rapid detection technology

  • The sensor rapid detection technologies we offer are currently divided into genetic sensors and biosensors. Gene sensors are mainly used to identify microorganisms in spices effectively with the help of DNA sequence uniqueness. Gene sensors mainly have quartz crystal oscillators, etc.
  • The biosensor is a combination of the molecules in the test object and the sensitive material on the biological receiver, which produces certain physical effects through chemical reactions. Then effective data analysis through ionic strength, pH, color changes, etc., to effectively detect various microorganisms in spices.
