Determination of Caffeine Content
Caffeine, as an alkaloid extracted from the coffee fruit, has a high value as an alkaloid. This is because it relieves fatigue, stimulates nerve function, and is used clinically to treat neurasthenia and coma recovery.
Lifeasible offers caffeine testing solutions to verify the authenticity and purity of raw materials, examine product safety and quality and assess potential health benefits. We can meet all your caffeine testing needs.
We offer various solutions for caffeine determination
Coffee is popular because of its caffeine content, and caffeine testing is the most critical test in coffee testing. For both caffeinated and non-caffeinated coffees, there are requirements for the determination of caffeine content. Generally, the maximum caffeine content permitted in decaffeinated coffee must not exceed 0.1% by weight. We offer various determination options for caffeine.
- HPLC method
We use HPLC-UV high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection to determine pure coffee. We offer a mass spectrometric detection technique that allows for the selective determination of caffeine in coffee and efficient and accurate determination of caffeine in coffee products. It reduces the problem of chromatographic interference in finished coffee containing sugar and other added ingredients due to the very low caffeine content. This technique of ours is characterized by a wide range of applications, high separation efficiency, high detection sensitivity, fast analysis, easy sample recovery, and easy preparation for separation. It has been widely used in the determination of caffeine in coffee products.
- Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)
Using NIRS technology, we can perform spectroscopic and quantitative analyses of caffeine in coffee products. NIRS technology is feasible, fast, simple, environmentally friendly, non-polluting, and superior as a reliable and rapid technique for analyzing caffeine content.
- Capillary electrophoresis
We offer the capillary electrophoresis method that can effectively be used to determine caffeine mass fractions. The capillary electrophoresis method allows the identification and quantification of caffeine by direct UV detection at 254 nm. It is not affected by the remaining additives in the coffee product. Compared to HPLC methods for determining caffeine, capillary electrophoresis offers technical features such as higher separation efficiency, rapid analysis, low analytical costs, and no need for expensive columns.
