Analysis of Plant lncRNA Enhancer Activity

Enhancers are classically defined as cis-acting DNA sequences that can increase the transcription of genes. They generally function independently of orientation and at various distances from their target promoter (or promoters). Recent studies have reported that lncRNAs have the function of promoting enhancer cyclization and activating gene expression. Enhancer-associated lncRNAs (eRNAs) are usually less than 2000 nt in length and bidirectionally transcribed from corresponding enhancers.

Enhancer Activity

  • Enhancers are regulatory genomic regions that are shown to be involved in transcriptional regulation through targeting promoters of protein-coding genes in a tissue-specific and developmental manner and modulating the spatial organization of the genome. However, information about plant enhancers has only recently started to emerge.

  • We provide analysis services for plant lncRNA enhancer activity. For their effects on gene regulation, lncRNAs act at multiple levels and with simple or complex mechanisms. The eRNAs, expressed from enhancers, are regulated by the exosome and can interact with other regions of DNA, such as enhancers or promoters, affecting the topology of the local DNA and thus altering gene expression.
  • We also help our customers identify the enhancer in plants. Genome-wide identification of enhancers became possible due to the advent of next-generation sequencing techniques. Our service lists include but are not limited to enhancer prediction located in intergenic regions, modification patterns associated with the predicted enhancers, and lncRNAs associated with the predicted enhancers.
