Genetic Diversity Analysis of Arabica Coffee
Coffee is an important perennial evergreen cash crop and incredibly valuable economic income source for many developing countries. Although there are several species in the coffee genus, only a few are relied upon for commercial production, with Arabica coffee occupying an extremely prominent position. Arabica coffee has been used as an effective cash crop because of its better-tasting coffee drinks and popularity with many consumers. The cultivation of Arabica coffee plays an important role in the income stream of growers and governments.
Lifeasible has been deeply involved in plant research for many years. By mining and analyzing the genetic diversity of Arabica coffee germplasm resources, we can expand the limited genetic diversity of varieties for the global coffee industry. In addition, we can promote the development of the global coffee industry.
Genetic diversity analysis of Arabica coffee can be applied in the following studies
- Provide guidance for coffee variety selection and local introduction.
- Identifying germplasm resources with significant genetic value and breeding potential.
- To solve the problem of the narrow coffee gene pool and broaden the coffee industry's choice of coffee germplasm.
We offer multiple solutions for Arabica coffee genetic diversity analysis
- Arabica coffee whole genome resequencing
We offer whole genome resequencing by sequencing the genome of Arabica coffee and analyzing the differences at the individual or population level. Based on whole genome resequencing technology, we can apply it to discover genome-wide polymorphisms in coffee, conduct a general screening of coffee seed resources, and find many genetic variants for genetic evolutionary analysis.
- Development of molecular markers for chloroplast genome sequence variation and polymorphism
To develop polymorphic chloroplast DNA molecular markers for genetic diversity-related studies of genetic resources, we generally assemble several whole chloroplast genomes of Arabica coffee based on genome resequencing data and screen for polymorphic regions in the chloroplast genomes. We also perform comparative analyses of chloroplast genome sequences to discover polymorphic regions of DNA fragments. We finally used polymorphic DNA fragment markers to serve as a useful resource for identifying coffee varieties and conducting coffee biogeography-related studies, providing an effective research tool for coffee germplasm resource diversity analysis.
