  • ISSR molecular markers

ISSR is different from SSR, an inter-simple sequence repeats and is a molecular marker technology further developed from SSR. PCR amplifies the sequence by adding 4 bases to the 3' or 5' end of a simple repeat (SSR). Our ISSR markers are widely used in coffee genetic diversity analysis because of the low amount of DNA template required. They also have rich polymorphism, simple and convenient operation, high stability, and low experimental cost.

  • AFLP and SSR molecular markers

We also used AFLP and SSR molecular markers for genetic diversity analysis of coffee germplasm. With this technique, we can analyze the genetic diversity of major coffee germplasm resources and construct DNA fingerprint profiles of coffee varieties to provide technical support for authenticity and purity identification of varieties in the production, promotion, and application of superior varieties, and provide a scientific basis for coffee genetic improvement, breeding parental selection, germplasm conservation, and core germplasm library construction. In addition, our technique can effectively analyze the genetic variability and background between introduced coffee varieties and cultivars.
