Pollen Moisture Content Analysis
The moisture content of pollen has little effect on the efficacy of the pollen but is a guide to the choice of pollen storage methods and pollen fermentation production. Pollen collected in its original form has a 20-30% moisture content and should be stored at low temperatures to avoid microbial contamination. Dried fresh pollen can easily be stored at room temperature for long periods. The criterion for long-term storage of dried pollen is that the moisture content of dried pollen at temperatures below 42°C should be <5%. The purpose of storing pollen is to prevent mould deterioration and to minimise the loss of active pollen components. The determination of the moisture content of pollen is, therefore very important for the storage of pollen. In addition to providing guidance for pollen storage, the moisture content of pollen is also an essential indicator for pollen quality analysis.
What We Offer
Lifeasible offers precise water content detection technology based on infrared drying to help guide you scientifically in your pollen collection and storage. Our analyses and tests are carried out in a standardised process operated by experienced specialists, maintaining strict Qc standards. We ensure that pollen is stored properly by ensuring the accuracy of our moisture content testing. Based on the results of the pollen moisture content tests, our experts will provide you with a range of advice on how to rationalise your pollen drying and storage methods. In addition, Lifeasible also offers services to dry pollen for storage at the correct moisture content, helping to reduce the moisture content of your pollen to the right level while ensuring that the active ingredients are not inactivated. You can also keep in touch with us anytime for more information. In general, pollen moisture testing is not a stand-alone or particularly important test but is often carried out in conjunction with other tests.
Service Flow
1. Sample Requirements
- Fresh flowers, >5g;
- Pollen from fresh flowers or dried pollen from different families, >1g.
*Quick freeze storage with liquid nitrogen minimises leakage time of plant samples at room temperature.
*Experimental samples are non-returnable; please make your backups. Control and experimental groups need to be set up prior to sampling, and it is recommended to have more than 3 replicates per group.
*No restrictions are placed on plant species. For species with special requirements or rare species, please contact our staff for more information.
*For experiments requiring special testing, please feel free to contact our staff for a bespoke testing service.
2. NIR Dry Moisture Content Testing
The NIR drying-based moisture content detection platform enables accurate detection with low detection limits.
3. Moisture Content Analysis
The moisture content test is a quick process with relatively simple data analysis, and we can give an analysis of the moisture content of the sample in the shortest possible time. In addition to an accurate moisture content analysis, our experienced experts will also give advice on the storage of pollen.
