Seed identification is mainly used to distinguish seed types and determine the distribution of regional vegetation. Identifying well-preserved seeds in soil deposits and rock layers can help researchers  infer geological information such as community turnover and climate change. Seeds consist of three main parts: seed coat, embryo, and endosperm. The role of the seed coat is to protect the seed. The endosperm is where the seed concentrates its nutrients. And the embryo is the most essential part of the seed and is used to eventually develop into the roots, stems, and leaves of the plant. Seeds can be divided into seeds with endosperm and seeds without endosperm according to whether the mature seed has an endosperm. The shape, size, color, and surface texture of the seeds vary with the plant species, which are important for seed category identification.

Seed morphological identification is a simple, convenient, and stable method of seed identification, mainly by observing the shape, size, color, surface texture, single or double cotyledon condition, endosperm morphology, and endosperm status of the seed.

  • Next-generation DNA Sequencing Platform

For seeds that are rare or indistinguishable by appearance, we offer a professional high-throughput seed DNA sequencing platform that directly identifies the seed type. The NGS-based seed identification service is operated by professional molecular biologists and follows strict Qc standards to ensure the accuracy of the results.

After receiving your order, we will carry out your project as soon as possible. At the end of the project, we will provide a detailed technical report including relevant experimental steps, parameters of the experiment, original pictures, raw data, and accurate and reliable experimental results.   • Sample Requirement

Seed sample > 20 seeds (amount for a single experiment)

*The experimental samples will not be returned; please back them up by yourself. Before sampling, it is necessary to set up the control and experimental groups, and each group is suggested to repeat more than 3 times.

*Quick-frozen preservation with liquid nitrogen can minimize the leakage time of plant samples at room temperature.

*There is no restriction on plant varieties. For varieties with special requirements or rare varieties, please contact our staff for more information.
