Seed vigor is a very complex quantitative trait. Seed vigor is related to many processes, such as seed formation, development and maturity, seed dormancy and germination, seed storage and deterioration, seedling formation and stress tolerance, etc. it determines the comprehensive performance of seed characteristics, such as the activity level and behavior of seeds or seed batches during germination and emergence. It has a great influence on seedling emergence rate and uniformity, seedling growth, crop yield, and quality after sowing, so seed vigor has always been an important research content of seed science.
