Cornaceae Propagation

Cornaceae plants are a group of multipurpose plants that are used for ornamental, edible, medicinal, and medicinal purposes. Among them, Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc. contains active ingredients such as venbenalin, tartaric acid, gallic acid, malic acid, tree esters, tannins, and various vitamins, which have good pharmacological effects such as regulating immune system function, hypoglycemia, anti-inflammation, and antibacterial, and have very broad development prospects.

Cornaceae Propagation

For a long time, the conventional propagation method of Cornaceae plants uses seeds, but due to the heterogeneous pollination of plants, there is a serious genetic segregation phenomenon, and it is difficult to maintain the good characteristics of the parents. At the same time, because of the long growth cycle of live seedlings, generally need more than 7-10 years to bear fruit, and the use of grafting, cuttings, and other nutritional propagation methods for the breeding of good seedlings, some due to rooting difficulties resulting in a low survival rate. Therefore, there are serious pests and diseases, large variation in fruit shape, and inconsistent fruit maturity in the production of Cornaceae plants, which leads to unstable yield due to the difference in quality and seriously affects the economic efficiency.

Lifeasible can provide tissue culture service, we select single plants with good genotypes and perform tissue culture to obtain high-quality non-toxic seedlings in a short time, which not only shorten the flowering, fruiting, and breeding years of Cornaceae plants and improve the reproduction coefficient but also use cell culture to produce secondary metabolites and bring higher economic benefits.

  • Explant selection: Lifeasible can use stem tips and stem segments with shoots as explants to obtain regenerated plants through the direct organogenesis route, by which plants obtained in this way have little genetic variation and can maintain the characteristics of the parental species. Leaves, stem tips, stem segments, receptacles, stalks, and terminal buds are often used as explants to induce guaiac tissue induction. Somatic embryogenesis is usually induced using immature explants.
  • Disinfection of explants: Proper and effective disinfection of explant material is an important part of plant tissue culture work. Lifeasible offers different disinfection protocols depending on the type of explant and the period of sampling, including bleach solution, Tween-80, alcohol, mercury, chlorine-containing solution, etc.
  • Basic media: Lifeasible provides basic media in the tissue culture of Cornus family plants such as woody plant medium (WPM), MS, 1/2 MS, B5, DKW, SH, etc.
  • Other growth regulators: Lifeasible provides growth regulators including 6-BA, KT, ZT, IBA, IAA, NAA, 2,4-D, KIBA, etc.
