Phytohormone-Mediated Fruit Development and Ripening Regulation
The development and ripening of plant fruits are highly complex and finely regulated biological processes involving multiple stages, including cell division, cell expansion, metabolic reprogramming, and tissue remodeling. Phytohormones play a central regulatory role in this process.
As modern agriculture places ever-increasing demands on fruit quality and shelf life, relying solely on traditional breeding or cultivation methods is no longer sufficient to meet industry needs. Precision interventions based on hormone-regulatory mechanisms have emerged as a key technical approach for targeted optimization of fruit traits. Leveraging advanced platforms for plant hormone regulation and multi-omics analysis, Lifeasible is committed to providing clients with comprehensive solutions to regulate fruit development and ripening, thereby driving agricultural progress.

Our Service for Phytohormone-Mediated Fruit Development and Ripening Regulation
Precise regulation of fruit ripening
- Precise intervention in ethylene biosynthesis. Using gene editing technologies to specifically knock out or attenuate key genes involved in ethylene biosynthesis that are fruit-specifically expressed. By reducing endogenous ethylene levels, the rate of fruit softening is significantly delayed, thereby reducing loss during long-distance transport.
- Enhancement of abscisic acid (ABA) signaling and transcriptional regulation. Optimizing the affinity between ABA receptors and transcription factors through promoter engineering or directed evolution. This accelerates the accumulation of anthocyanins and carotenoids at the molecular level, resulting in more uniform and vibrant fruit color while simultaneously increasing the fruit's soluble solids content.
Yield and fruit morphology improvement
We intervene in the fruit's physical phenotype by regulating the polar transport of hormones and the intensity of cellular signaling.
- Synergistic regulation of auxin and cytokinin. Using in situ hybridization and tissue-specific promoter-driven technologies, we precisely elevate cytokinin levels during the fruit-set stage to promote embryo-sac cell division. Subsequently, by regulating auxin polar transport, we direct nutrient delivery to the fruit, achieving uniform fruit size and increased individual fruit weight.
- Research on brassinosteroid (BR)-mediated fruit yield enhancement. By regulating key kinases in the BR signaling pathway, we optimize the plant's photosynthetic product allocation model. We enhance the sensitivity of fruit tissues to BRs, enabling more sugars to be redirected from leaves to fruits, thereby increasing yield without increasing the plant's metabolic load.
Enhanced fruit resistance
Leveraging the defense-inducing properties of hormones to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and improve the safety of agricultural products.
- The jasmonic acid (JA) pathway and endogenous defense mechanisms. For crops susceptible to fungal infections, we modulate the JA signaling pathway to induce the production of antifungal secondary metabolites in the fruit.
