The Fagaceae are of ancient origin and are the main tree species of tropical, subtropical, and temperate forest vegetation in the northern hemisphere. It is an important resource plant for the production of high-quality timber, nuts, tannin extract, etc., and has great socio-economic and ecological values.

Plant tissue culture technology is one of the main ways to propagate and asexualize the excellent germplasm of forest trees. Lifeasible has established a tissue culture platform for Fagaceae plants by considering the regeneration pathway, exosome selection, basic culture medium, and plant growth regulator application.

We considered the induction pathway in the selection of explants and adjusted the selection of culture medium and plant growth regulators according to the growth of different tree species on the basic medium. Moreover, Lifeasible has solutions to a series of problems such as contamination, browning, proliferation bud elongation, and rooting during the histoculture process.

• Selection of explants: The selection of explants with maximum differentiation potential is a prerequisite to ensure the success of plant tissue culture. The genotype of the explants, the age of the parent material, the developmental stage and growth environment, the site of collection, the season of collection, and the weather conditions at the time of collection can all cause differences in their physiological status and thus affect the morphology of the tissue culture system. Lifeasible has successfully established tissue culture systems using mature or immature conidia, cotyledons, stem segments, stem tips, and leaf blades as explants.
• Media: The basic media we offer for the tissue culture of Fagaceae are MS, 1/2 MS, 1/4 MS, WPM, GD, BTM, SH, etc.
• Other regulators: The plant growth regulators commonly used by Lifeasible in the tissue culture system of Fagaceae plants are growth hormones and cytokinins, including IAA, NAA, 2,4-D, IBA, 6-BA, KT, TDZ, ZT, etc. We also add GA3 which may be used depending on the situation.
