Description | 1. Diosmin is a semi-synthetic flavonoid, a derivative of hesperidin which is usually mixed with hesperidin. It is currently prescribed in some European countries and sold as a nutritional supplement in the United States. 2. Hesperidin is a flavonoid found in citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons or grapefruit fruits. The rind and membranous parts of these fruits contain the highest levels of hesperidin, especially in small, unripe citrus fruits. It is one of the colour and flavour components of citrus fruits. Flavonoid hesperidins are flavanone glycosides (glucosides), consisting of flavanones (a flavonoid) gramicidin and disaccharide brassinolide. Flavonoids are polyphenols that Hesperidin is used in combination with diosmin. |
